Waverly Kermit Pannell, Jr. Obituary

Waverly K. Pannell, Jr., lovingly known as “Wave,” of Halifax County, Virginia, passed away on April 26, 2025, at the age of 35.

Born on July 11, 1989, in Halifax County, Wave attended Halifax County Public Schools, where he developed a lifelong love for sports. A passionate athlete, he excelled in football as a running back and safety, and in basketball as a point guard. His love for the game continued throughout his life, as he proudly coached his children’s football and basketball teams, sharing his skills, spirit, and heart with the next generation.

Wave was a true Dallas Cowboys fan, never missing a chance to support his team. When he wasn’t on the field or court, he found joy in riding his dirt bike, four-wheeler, and motorcycle — living life to the fullest every chance he had. He was employed at Hitachi, where he was known for his dedication and strong work ethic.

Those who knew Wave will always remember him for his loving and gentle spirit, his contagious humor, and his undeniable presence. He was full of life, pulchritudinous inside and out, and an outstanding man who left a lasting impact on everyone blessed to know him.

He leaves to cherish loving memories his three beloved sons: Amaje Pannell, Amariyon Pannell and Aidan Pannell; his precious daughter, Traniya Connally; devoted mother, Ella Pannell; father, Waverly K. Pannell, Sr. (Jacqueline Pannell); three loving sisters: Shavon Bailey (Adrian Bailey), Sherita Pannell and Keionte’ Pannell; six nephews; Amonse Burwell, Amari Jackson, Deionte’ Jones, Kameron Smith, Kamden Smith and Qadir Fox; two nieces; Azire Lipscomb and Khloe’ Bailey; one very special aunt, Jacqueline Chandler; and a host of aunts, cousins and countless friends who will forever honor his memory.

Wave’s life was a blessing, and his memory will be treasured forever by all who knew and loved him.
