Franklin Delano Barfield, 92, of Fayetteville, North Carolina, passed away peacefully at his home on April 26, 2025.

Frank was preceded in death by his grandson, Joshua Franklin Barfield; his parents, Juluis and Lillie Barfield; his siblings, Harold Barfield and O’Neal Barfield; and the love of his life, his wife, Carolyn Dot Barfield. He is survived by his sister, Dorothy Craft; his children, Frankie Lyles, Kenneth Barfield (Lilly), Bonnie Pena (Joe), Robert Barfield (Nancy), and Angela Neal (Chris); his grandchildren, Jimmy Lyles, Jennifer Barfield (Stu), Jessica Winchell (Chris), Kimberly Costello (Dylan), Kelsy Hsieh (Nick), John David Knight, Joseph Knight, Madison Neal, and Sydney Neal and his 7 great grandchildren.

Frank will be remembered as a dedicated soldier and will leave behind a true patriot’s legacy. He was so proud to have served in the U.S. Army and Special Forces for 31 years. Frank not only served his county but was a true servant of God. He was an active member of Arran Lake Baptist Church, where he was a deacon and committed to the youth programs for many years. Most of all Frank was a family man. He was a proud dad, grandpa, and great grandpa. He will truly be missed.

A celebration of Frank’s life will be held at 2pm on Saturday, May 3, 2025, at Arran Lake Baptist Church, preceded by a visitation at the church at 1pm. Burial will follow the service at Cumberland Memorial Gardens.
