April Ann (Bowers) Perkins, age 47, of Huntington, IN, passed away at her residence on Sunday, April 27, 2025.

April was born on June 11, 1977, in Newport News, VA, to  Robert W. and Marsha K. (Whitesell) Bowers and they survive in Huntington. She married David Wade Perkins on April 25, 2011, and he preceded her in death on December 8, 2024.

April graduated from Huntington North High School in 1996 and received her bachelor’s degree in nursing from the University of Saint Francis in 2010.   She was a registered nurse at Lutheran Hospital in the oncology unit.  April enjoyed painting and making hanging lamps. She loved to go wild decorating for Halloween which was her favorite holiday.  April was the kindest and most beautiful person and was a loving daughter, mom and grandma.  She will be greatly missed.

Along with her parents, she is survived by four daughters: Addie (Maytelin) Miller, Ella Perkins, both of Huntington, IN, Hannah Perkins, Elkhart, IN; Mazy Reader, Hartford City, IN; one son, Clashton Perkins, Huntington, IN; two brothers, Rob (Brianna) Bowers, Roanoke, IN, Chad (Bobbie) Bowers, Huntington, IN; and one grandson, Maverick W. Miller.

Calling hours will be held on Friday, May 2, 2025, from 1:00 p.m. to 3:00 p.m., followed by a Funeral Service at 3:00 p.m., at McElhaney Funeral Home, 715 N. Jefferson Street, Huntington, IN, with Pastor Jason Fields officiating.

In lieu of flowers, memorials can be made to Addie Miller to start an education fund for Ella and Clashton Perkins in care of McElhaney Funeral Home, 715 N Jefferson Street, Huntington, IN 46750.

A private burial will be at a later date.
