It is with deep sorrow that we announce the passing of Brandon David Matusek, aged 16, of Washington, Missouri. Brandon passed away as the result of a tragic motorcycle accident on Saturday, April 26, 2025, in Washington. He was born on November 12, 2008 in Rexburg, Idaho, and was the second son of Michael Peter and Tiffany Elizabeth Matusek. He was affectionately known as “Brandino” or “Marshmallow” depending on who you asked.

Brandon was baptized a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints on December 30, 2016. Through years of learning and growing in the church, he developed a close relationship with God and His Savior. His love for his God was entwined with his love for country. He was wearing a cross printed with an American flag on the day of his passing. He had hopes of joining the armed services, a hope which stemmed from a rich family history of Veterans, including his great-grandfathers, uncles, and cousins. There is no doubt that he would have continued to relentlessly pursue his dreams and ambitions.

Brandon had a vibrant, playful spirit and was a natural jokester who loved to make others laugh—sometimes until they couldn’t catch their breath. He will be remembered for his quirky personality, his immense capacity to love, and his fierce loyalty to his friends. Animated and free-spirited, Brandon had a talent for mischief that kept life interesting. He played baseball in Chubbuck, Idaho for 4 seasons. He was a fan of both the Cubs and the Dodgers. He loved the outdoors—especially fishing, camping, target shooting, and feeling the wind on his face during a relaxed ride.

Brandon devoted as many hours to his passion for gaming as he did to hands-on projects. He began by tinkering with bicycles and computers at a young age and eventually graduated with vehicles and motorcycles. His long-standing dream was to rebuild his Chevy S10, complete with a 5.3L engine swap. This project, originally shared with his father and brothers, will be completed by friends and family in his honor.

He worked at McDonald’s, where he was deeply appreciated by coworkers and customers alike. He also briefly worked at Taco Bell alongside his older brother Kimball. Recently, Brandon completed the preliminary steps to begin working with Reicher Tire and Auto as a tire specialist.

Brandon deeply loved his eternal family. He looked after his mother with tenderness and was always checking in on her. He shared a special bond with his father, spending countless hours at his side, learning and building together. Though he tormented his three brothers with relentless teasing, his love for them ran deeper than words could express. He also doted on his little sister, who will forever treasure her big brother.

Brandon is survived by his parents, Michael and Tiffany Matusek; his siblings, Kimball Benjamin (18), Zachary Abram (13), Michael Peter (9), and Lucille Bianca (5). He is also survived by his grandparents, Margaret Marie and Martin J. Matusek of Lake City, Florida, and Vaughn B. and Carolyn Birgith Moore of Warrenton, Missouri. Brandon leaves behind seven uncles, eight aunts, and twenty-seven cousins who will all miss him dearly.

Services: Visitation at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, 110 E. 14th Street, Washington, Missouri on Friday, May 2 from 4:00 until 8:00 p.m. (casual attire encouraged during the visitation time) with the Funeral Service on Saturday, May 3 beginning at 10:00 a.m. Burial follows the church service at the Presbyterian Cemetery of Washington, 1376 Pottery Road, Washington, Missouri.
