Billy Ray Pate, age 59, of Wallace left his earthly life for his eternal rest on Sunday, April 27, 2025.
He was born on June 29, 1965, in Duplin County to the late William and Frances Casteen Pate.
Surviving to cherish his memory is his two daughters Brittany Henderson of Willard and Megan Moore of Chinquapin; his grandchildren Kage Marble, Kash Marble and Kamryn Carr; sisters Debbie Pate Horrell and husband Ricky of Wallace and Sandra Pate of Wallace, nieces, nephews and numerous extended family and friends that loved Billy dearly.
Billy was a loving father and caring grandfather and brother. He enjoyed the simplest things in life, but his greatest joy was his family and spending time with each of them. Before Billy’s illness, he enjoyed fishing, hunting and playing golf. He was also a hard worker and dedicated employee. Billy was employed with Hanniford and Wilson grocery stores in his younger days and later went to Piggly Wiggly. He worked for over 20 years at Piggly Wiggly in Wallace and Burgaw until he had to retire due to sickness. During the time of his employment at the “PIG”, Billy became store manager and served the community well. He met many people who became not just a customer but also a friend. With a big heart and humble spirit, Billy was easy to love. In fact, to know him was to love him and he loved in return. Billy would do anything he could for anyone who needed help. He will surely be missed but he will never be forgotten.
