Betty Jean Lowe Obituary

Betty J. Lowe, age 94, of Harrisburg, PA, previously from Dolgeville, NY and Pompey, NY, passed away April 27, 2025, at her home on the Blue Mountain in Harrisburg. She was born on May 2, 1930 in Norman OK, the daughter of Clarence Dulaney and Mildred Felder Dulaney. She was the loving spouse of James R. Lowe, to whom she was married for 49 years.

Heaven gained the sweetest angel on April 27th. Our beautiful mother passed away, surrounded by loving family. She lived a blessed life of service to her Lord. Betty was a resident of Pompey, NY and made her way to Dolgeville, NY, then to Harrisburg, PA. She worked as a registered nurse at Community General Hospital in Syracuse, at Iroquois Nursing home, at the Folts Home in Herkimer and for Dauphin County. Everywhere she went, she acquired great friends, but her absolute dearest friend was Sylvia Watt, whom she loved so much. Betty will be sorely missed by all of us. She adored her people, but also loved her dogs Gretchen, Pepper, Sam, Nicky, Dolly, Rusty, Hannah, Mya, Ayame, Buddy, Ena, Panda and “the little brown dog with the handle whose name I cannot recall”, Skoshi, Zeus and Shadow, her pet skunks Violet, Flower and Pierre Le’Peu.

Betty led 4-H’ers, and gave her time to the community and church. She loved cooking and gardening. She taught sewing and was an LPN and CNA instructor.

She adored all of her children, and felt that she had ‘finally achieved perfection at last when she got her son Dan” (the last one of us). Us girls were less enthusiastic, but he will do (LOVE you, Dan!)(Spoiled!) Words cannot express how amazing a mom she was, incredible wife and Grammy.

Heaven is much brighter today!

Surviving children are Susan Wrisley (Tom, deceased), Terry (Angelo) both from Syracuse. Nancy (Christopher) Navetta, Harrisburg, Amy (Miguel), South Carolina, Jennifer (Scott) Curtis, Elbridge, NY and Daniel (Jennifer) Lowe, Little Egg Harbor, NJ. Grandchildren are Katelyn, Tony, Krista, Russell, James, Nathan, Nicholas, Gabrielle, Gavin, Grant, Nicole, Lauren, Ryan, Sydney, Madison, Tyler and Dulaney. Great grandchildren are Anders, Louisa, Aubrey, Jamie, Riley, McKenzie, Daniel, Samantha, Charlotte, Nathaniel, Elizabeth, Dominic, Xavier, Gabriel, Christian, Emiliano, Santiago and Riley. Lots of nephews and nieces, but a shout out to Patrick and Walter!

Preceding her in death: Husband James (died 3/8/1999, brothers Clarence Lang (Genevieve) Dulaney, Patrick (Inge), Sisters Dana Ruth (Donald) Skeele, and Sharon McConnell, adopted son Jorge Godoy de Leon, beloved daughter-in-law Maegan and Son-in-law Tom.

Betty’s celebration of Life and Burial will be in the Veteran’s Cemetery in Syracuse, NY. Date and time will be updated soon.
