Kathryn Irene McCollum, 64, passed away at home from complications after surgery on Sunday, April 27, 2025, surrounded by her loving family.

She was a devoted mother, grandma, sister and aunt. Kathryn was born on January 8, 1961, in Charleston, West Virgina to George Harvey McCollum and Mary Ellen (Sargent) McCollum. She was a proud resident of Middlefield and was a 1979 graduate of Geauga Christian School.

Kathy grew up in West Virgina with her siblings until age four, then moved to Ohio. She later married Rocky Trendle, and together they had three children, Kimberly, Jacqueline and Keith. Kathy loved bowling, spending time with family, friends and her kitties- Gizzy and Wicky. She enjoyed traveling with family, especially to Florida to see her sisters, Alice and Jackie. Family meant everything to her. Kathy was one happy Grammy, never missing a birthday or holiday gathering. She always called you on your birthday and sang “Happy Birthday” to you. Kathy could always be counted on to lend a helping hand to whoever was in need.

She is survived by her children, Jacqueline (Eric) Duncan and Keith (Mandy) Trendle; grandchildren, Logan, Kailey, Amy and Alison; sisters, Alice Silbaugh, Jacqueline Connolly and Karen McCollum; brother, Raymond McCollum; step mother Lillian McCollum; nieces and nephews, Michael, Melissa, Kyle, Ryan, Brian, Justin and many more.

Kathy was preceded in death by her daughter, Kimberly Trendle; parents, George and Mary Ellen McCollum; brothers, George McCollum II, Robert McCollum Sr, Frank McCollum; and two sisters, Darlena Smith and Linda Cook.

Calling hours will be held Friday, May 2, 2025, at Sly Family Funeral Home, 15670 W. High St., Middlefield from 10:00AM-12:00PM, where a service will follow at 12:00 NOON. Burial will follow at Middlefield Cemetery,
