Joan Grose Meek, 93, passed away on April 27, 2025 in Fleming Island, FL. She was born on November 9, 1931 in Havaco, WV, to the late Wallace Chauncey Grose and Bertha Mae Steelman Grose.

Joan worked as an accounting clerk for the St. Petersburg Times and then, for almost thirty years, for Florida State University. She was a member of the First Baptist Church of Orange Park and enjoyed gardening, baking and volunteering at The Clothes Closet.

Joan spent the majority of her life in service to others, mostly in care of her family, including her mother, children, her sister, June, and her favorite grandchild. Throughout her life, Joan remained strong in her faith and loved the Lord. Heaven has received the ‘World’s Best Grammy.’

Joan was preceded in death by her parents; sisters, Nell, Kathleen, Helen, Gladys, Norma, Viola, June and Geraldine and brother, Wallace.

Joan is survived by her loving children, Karen Meek Coen and Thomas Owen Meek, Jr.; granddaughter, Elizabeth Coen and a host of other family members and friends.

The family would like to thank Community Hospice of Orange Park for the support provided to Joan and her family in her final days on this earth.
