Funeral services will be held on Saturday, May 3, 2025 at 1:00 PM in Martin & Castille Funeral Home in Scott, for Barbara Guilbeaux Dore, age 84, who passed away on April 26, 2025 at her Scott residence.

Interment will be held in Sts. Peter & Paul Cemetery.

Deacon Cody F. Miller will officiate at the services.

The family requests that visitation be observed on Friday from 4:00 PM to 8:00 PM with a Rosary recited at 6:30 PM. Visitation will continue on Saturday from 9:00 AM until time of services.  

Barbara is survived by her beloved husband, Chester J. Dore; her son, Kirk Darbonne; her niece, Gina A. Savoie and husband, Larry Sheffield; her great-niece, Betty Ann Dubose, and many great great nieces and nephews that she loved dearly.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Eva Miller Guilbeaux and Horest Guilbeaux; her brothers, Cebe Guilbeaux and Howard A. Guilbeaux; her great-niece, Kasalynn Bridges and Mary Ann Guilbeaux; her great-nephews, Ricky Guilbeaux, Gerald Paul Guilbeaux, and Kenny Wayne Guilbeaux.

Barbara retired from Abdallas' in Lafayette after many faithful years as a talented seamstress. Her gifted hands created countless beautiful dresses and custom outfits for Barbies and dolls, especially for her beloved nieces at Christmas. She lovingly crocheted dolls and doll clothes, each piece a treasure of her care and skill. Her talents even reached into her own life, sewing her own prom dress and a wedding dress for a dear family member.

Barbara had a heart full of joy. She loved baking delicious treats, sewing, crocheting, and caring for Mrs. Joan’s puppies. Her dog, Susie Q, was her constant companion and precious “child,” and together they shared a bond full of unconditional love.

Barbara shared a beautiful life with her husband, Chester. They enjoyed traveling together on cruises, trips to Branson, Missouri, France, and the beaches of Destin, Florida. Everywhere Barbara went, she brought light, laughter, and a welcoming spirit.

She will be remembered for her loving heart, her creative hands, and the warmth she brought into every room. Her family and friends will carry her memory as a blessing, forever grateful for the gift of her life.

Pallbearers will be Marcus Begnaud, Wayne Istre, Murray Romero, Joshua Bridges, Jessie Romero, JeMicheal Broussard, Christian Bridges, and Jordan Carey.

Honorary Pallbearers will be Kirk Darbonne and Larry Sheffield.

The family would like to thank the staff of Hope Hospice for their compassion and great care of Mrs. Barbara.
