Lewis Carnell Pickett, affectionately known as Blue, was born on August 9, 1954 to Willie J. Pickett and Helen Marshburn Pickett in Pender County. Lewis was a cherished and active member of Lees Chapel Missionary Baptist Church, where his presence was deeply felt.

Lewis's journey began at Burgaw High School, before he courageously served his country as a proud US Marine, receiving an honorable discharge in 1972. Transitioning from military life, he dedicated his professional efforts to the construction field, excelling as a Heavy Machine Operator until his retirement.

His passions in life were as varied as they were vibrant. Lewis was a music lover, always ready to dance. A devoted fan of the NHRA, he also followed college sports with keen interest. But above all, Lewis treasured time with friends and family, creating irreplaceable memories.

Lewis was preceded in death by his loving parents, Willie J. Pickett and Helen Marshburn Pickett, along with siblings James (Billy) Pickett and Johnnie Mae Holloway

He leaves behind a loving family, including his children Leander Pickett, Lewis Pickett Jr., and Allison Pickett. His siblings Wilma Rich and Jimmie Lee Pickett will surely miss him. His legacy continues through his adored grandchildren: Aanjalei Pickett, Kadence Pickett, Lyric Pickett, Ava Pickett, Jakovi Pickett, Khylen Boyd, and Jaxon McNeal. He also leaves numerous nephews, nieces, cousins, family members, and friends who will forever cherish his memory. Lewis's life was a testament to devotion, joy, and the love of both family and friends. His memory will continue to live on in the hearts of all who knew and loved him.
