Edward Joseph Tunkel, Jr Obituary

Edward J. Tunkel Jr. A Godly loving husband of 62 years and a father of three caring sons passed into the arms of his Savior, Jesus at home, early on April 26, 2025. He was born in Queens, New York and lived in Massapequa and attended Massapequa High School. The family moved to Central Florida in the middle of his senior year. He finished his senior year at Largo High School where he met the love of his life, Karoline Kennedy, his future wife. He attended Bible School for almost two years and loved to spend time reading his Bible.

Ed was a Master Carpenter, a trim carpenter and loved working with wood, no matter what it was, but later he became well known for his craftmanship and an eye for excellence in building slot car tracks. Ed and Karol built many tracks in the 30 years that they were working. Every track was special to him.

He was preceded in death by his father, Edward J. Tunkel; mother, Ellen I. Blum Tunkel; Middle brother, Robert Tunkel; and a grandson, Joseph W. Tunkel. Survivors are wife, Karoline K. Tunkel; three sons and wives, Peter J. Tunkel (Kim), Michael A. Tunkel (DeDe), and Christopher D. Tunkel (Cathy); youngest brother, Richard Tunkel (Sheryl); Six grandchildren and six great grandchildren.

Celebration of Life Service will be held on May 10th at 2:00 PM at Bell Avenue Baptist Church, 904 Bell Avenue, Lenoir City, Tennessee with Pastor Brent Stafford Officiating. In lieu of flowers, donations for final expenses would be appreciated.
