Roger E. Leonard, 92, of Davenport, passed away peacefully on Saturday, April 26, 2025.
Born on July 18, 1932, in Pennsylvania, Roger was the son of the late George and Etna (Yale) Leonard. He married Mary L. Gransbury in 1990, and together they built a life full of love and shared memories.
Roger spent most of his working years with Dan Armstrong Construction in Chenango Forks, NY, where his strong work ethic and craftsmanship were widely admired. Even in retirement, Roger loved keeping busy — especially building beautiful furniture for his home and to sell at craft fairs. He found great joy in dancing to country music, playing card games, gambling, ice fishing, and watching for bald eagles — always appreciating the simple pleasures of life.
Roger is survived by his beloved wife, Mary Leonard; his children, Bonnie (Will) George of Pennsylvania, Terry Leonard of Binghamton, and Phil (Myra) Leonard of Pennsylvania; along with many cherished grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
He was predeceased by his son, Chris (Robin) Leonard; his brothers, Roy (Fran), Ray (Bea), and Robert (Ruth); and his sisters, Irene Barnes and Marjorie Holbrook.
Services will be held privately at the convenience of his family.
Roger’s hardworking spirit, love for family, and joy for life will be remembered always.
Roger’s family has entrusted his care to Edd Stanimer of the Johnston & Stanimer Funeral Home in Morris. To leave an online message of sympathy to his family, visit www.JohnstonFH.com
