Barbara J. Kopulos Obituary

Barbara J. Kopulos, known affectionately as Barb to her friends and family, passed away peacefully on April 26, 2025, at the age of 84 in Hinsdale, IL. Born on August 25, 1940, in Quincy, IL, Barb was a beacon of light to all who knew her, embodying the virtues of love, kindness, and an indomitable spirit.

Barb’s journey began as the cherished daughter of the late Russell C. Brewer and Helen K. Brewer (nee McGuire). She grew up surrounded by the love of her late brother, Russell W. Brewer, and her late sister, Helen DeCesare-Kaminski (nee Brewer). Her life was further blessed with the companionship of her late husband, Angelo Kopulos, with whom she shared many cherished memories.

Barb’s professional life was spent in the trucking transportation industry, where her dedication and hard work were evident until her retirement. Her work ethic and commitment to excellence were recognized by all who had the pleasure of working alongside her.

A woman of many interests, Barb found joy in the simple pleasures of life. She was known for her love of mini day trips, exploring new places with a close-knit group of friends. Her regular luncheons were occasions filled with laughter and conversation, moments that Barb treasured deeply. A faithful attendee of Greenhouse at Christ Church in Oakbrook, her commitment to her faith and community was unwavering.

An avid reader, Barb's sharp intellect was matched only by her engaging personality. Her passion for books was a testament to her lifelong love of learning and her desire to always stay informed and connected to the world around her.

Barb was a beloved figure not only to her immediate family but also to her extended family. She is survived by her loving nephew, Wayne Brewer; her nieces, Kerry Betz (nee DeCesare) and Kimberly De Cesare; and a host of great-nieces and great-nephews, as well as many great-great-nieces and nephews. Each of these individuals was a source of immense pride and joy for Barb, and she leaves behind a legacy of love that will continue to flourish in their lives.

Those who had the privilege of knowing Barb will remember her as a loving and kind soul, always ready with a smile and a kind word. Her spirited nature was contagious, and she had the remarkable ability to uplift everyone around her. Barb's presence was a gift, and though she will be deeply missed, her memory will live on in the hearts of those who were fortunate enough to feel the warmth of her love.

Barbara J. Kopulos's life was a tapestry of meaningful relationships, unwavering faith, and joyous adventures. Her story is not one of an ending but a celebration of a life well-lived, a life that continues to inspire and guide us. As we say farewell to Barb, we take solace in the knowledge that her legacy of love and kindness will endure, a guiding light for generations to come.
