Connie Leigh Hale, 72, of Roanoke, VA was called home to be with Jesus on April 26, 2025.
She was born on December 4, 1952 at Lewis Gale Hospital. A 1971 graduate of Jefferson High School, Connie went on to become a computer programmer at Singer Furniture for a number of years. It was a profession she took great pride in. Later on, she handled bookkeeping and accounts payable for WHPT Trucking, then Virginia Truck Center before retiring.
Connie was a longtime member of Waverly Place Baptist Church where she grew up, received Christ, taught Sunday School, served as camp counselor, and sang in the choir. She loved her church family very much. When health eventually prevented her from attending church in person, she enjoyed watching Thomas Road Baptist services on TV. She loved Jesus, and she prayed for everyone she came in contact with to know Him on an intimate level. She truly was His hands and feet in all she did.
Connie loved watching movies, her favorite TV show NCIS, browsing through her many cookbooks, singing, and spending time with family and friends. She was talented at so many things, including cross stitch, jewelry making, flower arrangements, writing poetry, and cooking amazing meals. But her crowning jewel was being CeeCee to her four very loved grandchildren. They were her pride and joy.
She also adored living with her family and overlooking Cahas Mountain before moving to Friendship South Nursing Home. There, she was known as Miss Independent, sharer of popcorn, prayer warrior, confidant and friend. Connie never met a stranger. She truly loved meeting and talking with everyone.
Connie was preceded in death by her parents, Kelly S. Hale and Comena Witt Hale; her brother Jim Hale; and her sweet fur babies Maggie Mae and Mish.
Left to cherish her memory are her daughter Kelli Helms Mayhorn (Jonathan); grandchildren Emma Elizabeth, Kaelah Naomi, Collin Josiah and Elliot Elijah; sister Janet Campbell; best friend Lisa Gerritsen; many beloved nieces and nephews; as well as a circle of very dear friends.
Connie was a wonderful daughter, sister, and friend. But more than anything, she was a remarkable mother. She loved with the sweetest, most tender love, a love that won't soon be forgotten and lives on in her daughter and grandbabies. Through the hope of Christ and His promise of Heaven, this isn't goodbye; it's see you later.
