Patricia Ann (Stapleton) Seifarth Obituary

It is with deep sadness that we announce the passing of our mother, Patricia Ann (Stapleton) Seifarth, 95 years young, on April 23, 2025 at the home of her daughter and son-in-law, Paula and Michael Dean in Myrtle Beach, South Carolina. She was born on August 26, 1929 in Frostburg, Maryland to Margaret Elizabath (Monahan) and Thomas Mervin Stapleton. Mom lived a full and vibrant life, touching the hearts of all who knew her.

In the fall of 1947, Mom met the love of her life, Harold Ervin Seifarth, and they were married in July of 1951. With Daddy’s passing in May of 2003, Mom was a widow for the last 22 years and we rejoice that they are now reunited.

Mom worked at Allegany Ballistics Laboratory as a lab assistant in Cumberland, Maryland from 1951 – 1954. From 1951 she and Daddy owned Engles Market on Bedford Road, Bedford Road Foodland and Bedford Road Liquors. They worked as a team until they retired in 1988. Once they retired, they moved to Myrtle Beach.

Mom loved to stay busy by sewing, quilting, or crocheting treasures for her family. She was an avid reader and did crossword puzzles daily. Her hands were rarely still.

Mom was a woman of unwavering strength, kindness, and generosity. She spent her life dedicated to her family. Her bright smile and infectious knee-slapping laughter brought joy to everyone she met. She was a former member of St. Peter and Paul Church in Cumberland, Maryland and The Catholic Church of St. James the Younger in Conway, South Carolina.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, her brother, Thomas Stapleton, and a grandson, Michael Joseph Dean. She is survived by her children Rebecca A. Screen and husband Randy; Paula M. Dean and husband Michael; Julia L. Workman; Jeanne M. Fisher and husband Kirk; and William H. Seifarth and husband Lewis Jones. She is also survived by grandchildren Blake Harper, Erica Harper, Stephen Screen, Patrick Screen, Molly Keen, Matthew Dean, Lindsay Ward, Martine Workman, Rodney Workman, Jr., Mandy Workman, Amanda Fisher, Sam Fisher, and Zachary Seifarth, and 17 great grandchildren.

Our family would like to thank Tidelands Hospice and the team of caregivers for the care they provided Mom over the last 18 months.

Through the years, but most especially the last 2 years, we want to thank Polly for her loving care of Mom and to Mike for his caring heart.

Funeral services will be private.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Tidelands Community Hospice, 2591 N. Fraser Street, Georgetown, SC 29440; American Cancer Society, American Heart Association, or Juvenile Diabetes.

Mom’s spirit will forever remain in our hearts, and her legacy of love for family will continue to inspire us all.
