Newark - Robert G Goebel, 83, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, April 23, 2025, with his family by his side.

Bob was born on Friday, December 19, 1941, in Rochester, NY, the son of the late John K. and Martha (Lindsay) Goebel. He grew up in the Rochester area and attended Catholic school before enlisting in the United States Army in 1960. He proudly served until his honorable discharge in 1963.

Bob spent his career in auto sales, retiring from Becker Motors in Canandaigua. He also enjoyed working on small engines, particularly lawnmowers. During his retirement, Bob enjoyed helping Brian Watson at Two Guys Small Engine Repair. His passion for racing led him to compete in street stock and dirt-modified cars. He was a co-founder of Arcadia Lawn Mower Racing / Turf Mower Sports. In addition, Bob loved doing puzzles and word searches and was a pit crew member for Tim and Jackie's dirt-modified racing teams.

Robert will be remembered by his daughter, Michelle "Chellie" Alvarado; his son, Johnny D. Herman; grandchildren Shaun (Nicole Bishop) DeJohn, Seth (Nakisha Jacquionot) DeJohn, Derek (Brandi) Herman, Ryan (Kiersten) Herman and Camron Douglas; and great-grandchildren Hannah, Alivia, Trevor, Elizabeth, Elsie, Jameson, Oliver, Paisley, Teagan, Kyleigh, and Ripley; many nieces and nephews.

Bob was predeceased by his wife, Diane; his sons, Robert "Bobby' Goebel and Timothy "TJ" Herman; a daughter, Kathy DeJohn; his siblings Joseph Lindsay, Richard Goebel and John "Jack" Goebel, Jr.

Please join Bob's family for his graveside service at 11:00 a.m. on Monday, May 5, 2025, at Newark Cemetery, North Main Street, Newark, NY. A celebration of Bob's life is being planned for later this summer.
