JOE JUNIOR JUSTUS, 75 years of age, passed away Saturday, April 26, 2025, at Pikeville Medical Center due to an extended illness. He was a member of Forever Faith Ministries and served the Lord for over 40 years. He loved the Lord and his family. He set a wonderful example for us to follow, through his sweet gentle kind nature. He enjoyed the outdoors, woodworking, and had great appreciation for all of God’s creations. His greatest goal in life was to make sure his wife and family were cared for and that they had a better life than he did as a child.

Born in Hurley, VA, he was the son of the late Carson and Lucy (May) Justus. He was a lifelong resident of Buchanan County and served many years as a surface miner. He was a loving husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather and was a friend to all.

In addition to his parents, he was proceeded in death by his grandparents Larkin and Victoria Charles Justus and Basil and Daisy Dotson May; his brothers, Raymond, Grover, Jerry, and Roosevelt Justus; his sisters, Josie Lynchfield, Alphie Jackson, Dolly and Cora Justus.

Left to mourn his loss is his wife of 54 years, Juanita Gale Jackson Justus; his children, Elizabeth and Joey Stiltner of Hurley, VA, Mechelle and Charlie Dotson of Hurley, VA, Joey and Alison Justus of Roanoke, VA, and Joshua and Melissa Justus of Hurley, VA, his grandchildren, Deanna and Justin Blankenship of Grundy, VA, Anthony Stiltner and Marissa Scammell of Hurley, VA, Zach and Ashley Dotson of Grundy, VA, Keaton Dotson and Peyton Sparks of Grundy, VA, Carson Justus of Christiansburg, VA, Lexi Justus and Jackson Lester of Hurley, VA, Lindsay Justus and Hayden Justus of Hurley, VA; his great grandchildren, Aurora Stiltner of Hurley, VA, Landon Blankenship of Grundy, VA, and Lucy Dotson of Grundy, VA, Reece Stacy of Hurley, VA, Rylee Keen of Grundy, VA; his brothers, Harold Dean Justus of Hurley, VA, Claudie and Stella Justus of Hurley, VA, Donald Justus of Tazewell, VA; his sisters, Shirley Baugh of Belfast, VA, Charlene Justus of Hurley, VA, Louise Jackson of Hurley, VA, and Barbara and Randy Stiltner of Hurley, VA.

Visitation will be held at the Grundy Funeral Home Chapel Wednesday evening at 6:00 P.M. with services at 7:00 P.M.

Funeral Services for JOE JUNIOR JUSTUS will be conducted Thursday, May 1, 2025, at 1:00 P.M. at the Grundy Funeral Home Chapel with Charlie Dotson, Ronnie Hurley and Ervin Hurley officiating. Burial will follow in the May Family Cemetery on May Branch, Hurley, VA.

Active Pallbearers will be his brothers, sons, sons-in-law, grandsons and nephews.

Honorary Pallbearers will be Danny May, Steven Grover, Junior Justus, Brian Robinson and Derek Justus.
