Cheryl (Nardella) Benning, 75, of Omaha, Nebraska, passed away peacefully on April 23, 2025, in Omaha.
Born on October 12, 1949, in Omaha, Cheryl spent her life surrounded by family and friends she cherished deeply. Throughout her life, Cheryl was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, sister, and friend. Her vibrant spirit and zest for life were evident to all who knew her.
Cheryl found joy in dancing and bowling, always bringing energy and laughter wherever she went. Her passion for making life fun left a lasting impression on those fortunate enough to share in her journey. Cheryl's resilience was remarkable; she faced a long battle with Parkinson’s Disease and Lewy Body Dementia with unwavering strength and determination. Her courage and perseverance inspired many.
Cheryl’s family was the center of her world. She is lovingly remembered by her sister, Jodene (Verne) Grashorn; Children Tracy (Cory) Michel, Tammi Collins, Jason Koory, and Mick Koory; Stepchildren Beverly (Scott) Robertson, Debbie (Quinn) Jones, and Tammy (Carl) Clark. Cheryl’s legacy continues through her grandchildren: Stefenn (Brittany) Fiscus, Bronwyn Koory, Sean Michel, Tyler Koory, Jaden (Jessica) Collins, Ryan Michel, Callie Koory, Jakob Koory, Erica Michel, and Hayley Koory; as well as step grandchildren Anthony Clark, Heath Jones, and Skylar Jones. Cheryl was also blessed with great-grandchildren: Greyson and Everett Henderson, Grace and Charlotte Fiscus, Auggie Koory, Cleo Koory; and step-great-granddaughter Briella Clark.
Cheryl was preceded in death by her beloved husband Parke William Benning Jr.; parents Anthony "Sonny" Nardella and Mine (Jerry) Lambert (Madsen); brother Mark Nardella; and grandson Branden Collins.
A private Celebration of Life will be held at a later date to honor Cheryl’s memory.
