Lillian Hill Obituary

Lillian Kay Hill, age 77, of Jefferson City, Mo., passed away Saturday, April 26, 2025, at her home.

She was born on August 6, 1947, in St. Louis, the daughter of Francis Benjamin “Red” Hill and Ruth Shepard.

Lillian was a 1965 graduate of Cor Jesu High School and continued her education at Mount Mercy University in Cedar Rapids, Iowa, where she received her master’s degree in Elementary Education.

Lillian loved to learn and was always curious about the world around her. She also had a strong passion for teaching and helping others understand new things. Whether she was reading, asking questions, or sharing what she knew, Lillian made learning a joy for everyone around her.

Lillian had a deep love for words and was always eager to challenge her mind. She spent countless hours enjoying books, crossword puzzles, and word searches, often with a pencil in hand and a smile on her face. In her later years, she took to her iPad with the same enthusiasm, playing brain games that kept her mind sharp and active. For Lillian, learning never stopped, she believed in keeping her brain busy and found joy in every new fact, word, or game she discovered.

She loved going to play bingo as often as she could—sometimes nearly every day. She cherished playing games with her grandkids, whether it was gin rummy, poker, or being the judge during lively family game nights over the holidays. A talented musician, she often sat at the piano and filled the room with music. Above all, Lillian loved her family deeply. She was known for her compassionate heart and her willingness to listen, though she could be a bit stubborn when it came to standing her ground. Intelligent, honest, and dignified, Lillian left a lasting impression on everyone who knew her. She will be dearly missed by all who loved her and learned from her.

She is survived by her daughter, Antoinette Hill, of Jefferson City, Mo.; grandchildren, Kurtis Boucher (Kaitlyn), Arianna Boucher (Justin Foltz), Connor Hill, and Jackson Mobley.

Lillian is preceded in death by her parents, Red and Ruth Hill; and her sisters, Helen Claus, and Carol Dattoli.

A celebration of life for Lillian will be held at a later date.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions are suggested to, Advocating for Children in Crisis and Transition (ACCT), 709 S Country Club Drive, Jefferson City, Mo., 65109.

Funeral arrangements are under the care of Freeman Mortuary, 915 Madison St, Jefferson City, MO 65101.
