Celebrating the Life of Carol Malatia
January 10, 1939 – April 27, 2025
Carol Malatia (Korneck), age 86, of Chicago, passed away peacefully on Sunday, April 27, 2025, after a long and courageous battle with Alzheimer’s disease. She was the devoted wife of the late August Malatia and the beloved daughter of the late Frank and Katherine Korneck.
Carol was the third of six children, a cherished sister to the late Rose Smith, the late Patricia Korneck, Diane Rzewinicki, the late Bobby Korneck, Debi Rodriguez, and a proud, loving aunt to many.
Carol’s life was a gift to all who knew her — a beautiful soul of kindness, quiet strength, and unconditional love. Her laughter, gentle spirit, and steadfast support touched countless hearts. Though she faced many challenges, she met them with grace, and her enduring kindness and warmth will be remembered always.
Though our hearts are heavy, we find comfort in knowing Carol is reunited with the loved ones who went before her. She will be forever loved, forever missed, and her memory will be a blessing to all who were lucky enough to know her.
Her family will be hosting a memorial on Saturday June 14 at Cooneys Funeral Home 8:30am, followed by St. Paul’s of The Cross church for mass at 10am. In lieu of flowers, we invite you to honor Carol’s memory with a donation to the Alzheimer’s Association or guardian hospice.
