Lela Ruth Wehr Obituary

Lela Ruth Wehr (nee Sims) entered into heaven on April 26, 2025 at the age of 89, with her family and friends by her side. Born July 23, 1935, in Wainville, WV.  into the large family of Noble and Lillie Sims(nee Carpenter). She was raised on a farm with her 9 siblings. Where they made many fond childhood memories that she loved to share. She was very proud of her West Virginia roots.

She was a nurse for most of her life, first at Providence Hospital in Sandusky. And then at Erie County Care Facility until she retired. After retirement, she spent much of her time as a volunteer wherever she was needed. Especially Care and Share in downtown Sandusky.

Lela loved living on the water at Viewpoint apartments. Where she made countless friendships throughout the years. She enjoyed playing card games, reading, doing puzzle books, making Sauerkraut balls with her daughter & granddaughter. She especially liked going to Bible Study and making new friends.

She is survived by 3 of her brothers: Harry Sims of Crystal Rock, Ohio. Who she loved and adored so very much. He took such good care of her and was always by her side. Forrest (Sharon) Sims of Bayview, Ohio; and Tom (Joyce) Sims of Norwalk, Ohio.

Her 4 Loving grandchildren; Dustin (Erin) Gallogly of Amherst, Ohio; Jamie Gallogly of Amherst, Ohio;  Kari (Chris) Yoder of West Jefferson, Ohio And Shalyn (Tony) Myers of Walbridge, Ohio.

Her 10 cherished great-grandchildren Aryanna, Patrick, Kaydence, Keresa, Parker, Mason, Maddison, Brayden, Carson, and Liam.

Many close nieces and nephews including Crystal, Jeff, Sandy, Betty Sue, Sally, and more. Her dear great nieces and nephews; Drew, Megan, Ashley, Justin, Kendall and lots more! Including tons of cousins and friends. Her very best friends that she loved to go camping with Tammy and Bill (OB) Obergefell. All left to cherish her memory.

She is preceded in death by her Beloved Daughter, Jackie Lee Giles. And her favorite grand-dog Peaches, whom she is now reunited with. And both her parents
Noble and Lillie Sims. Along with 6 of her siblings; Lloyd Sims, Beulah Moore, Eula Weese, Ernest Sims, Audra Green, and Clarence Sims.

It was her wish to be cremated and private family services to be held.

Arrangements entrusted to David F Koch Funeral & Cremation Services, 520 Columbus Ave, Sandusky.
