Marc Yaffe Obituary

On Sunday, April 27, 2025, Marc Yaffe died after a brief illness. Born June 10, 1929 in Philadelphia, to Richard and Sara Yaffe. He lived a full and eventful life. Those who knew him or knew of him, heard about his cooking, jewelry making, wood working, playing cards and his devotion for his beloved dog Zeppo. In his life he was a practicing optometrist for a short time (although my grandmother continued to renew his license until somewhere around 2000), a journalist, worked at the Organization of American States, ran his own catering company then had a cheesecake business and ended his working life managing restaurants.

There were many turns in his professional career. His companions along the way were first my mother, Joyce Ginsberg Yaffe (they divorced in the 1980s), with whom he had his four children, Elissa, Karen, Lauren, and Adam. Then with Cythia Lebrun-Yaffe (who pre-deceased him in 2021), where they traveled the world, enjoying new cultures and amazing food. His life was busy almost up until the end. He was slowed by a broken hip in October but was making a good recovery up until three weeks ago.

He leaves behind his four children and their partners, Erich, John, Sid, and Allison, eight grandchildren, Ariel, Sam, Flora, Miranda, Sasha, Kieran, Mira, Jered, Anya, and Nyx, and three great grandchildren, Eliana. Ivy, and Aviva.

He will be missed
