Barbara Allen Barron, of Elkhart, Texas, passed away peacefully at the age of 77, on Sunday, the 27th day of April 2025 at Christus Mother Frances, in Tyler, Texas. She was born on the 15th day of December 1947 in Houston, Texas to parents Young N. Barron and Hollon Ann Greer.
Barbara's early life in Houston laid the foundation for her outgoing nature and her ability to connect with people from all walks of life. She grew up in a loving family and shared an unbreakable bond with her siblings. Her brothers, Lee Barron and his wife Judy, and David Barron and his wife Letitia, along with her brother-in-law Thom Smyser, survive her. She was preceded in death by her parents, her beloved husband Vaughn “Sarge” King, and her sister, Mary Smyser.
Those who knew Barbara will remember her as a woman of many passions. She was a great cook whose recipes brought comfort and joy to many gatherings. Her beautiful singing voice was often the highlight of family reunions and community events. Barbara had the unique ability to make friends easily, as she never met a stranger. She was genuine and authentic, talking and acting the same no matter where she was or who she was with. This authenticity earned her the love and respect of everyone she met.
Barbara's zest for life was evident in her love for over-the-road trucking, which she enjoyed alongside her late husband for 20 years. Together, they traversed the highways of 48 states and Canada, creating a tapestry of memories that she cherished deeply. Her adventurous spirit was matched by her love for her feline companions, and she was never afraid to speak her mind, a trait that endeared her to many.
Above all, Barbara was a loving and kind person, with a sense of humor that could light up a room. She was forever grateful for all she had in life, and her gratitude was reflected in her actions and her warm, generous spirit. She loved her family fiercely and she will be greatly missed by all.
The family honored Barbara’s wishes with no services and had her laid to rest by her late husband Vaughn “Sarge” King at Garden of Memories Cemetery in Elkhart, Texas.
