John Michael Warneke, Sergeant Major, U.S. Marine Corps (Retired)
Mike Warneke, 72, of Marysville, graduated to the ranks of guarding the gates of heaven on April 26, 2025, surrounded by his loving wife and family. .
Mike was a man whose love and strength shaped the lives of those around him. He was a devoted husband to Kelly Noelle, a cherished brother to Kevin (Donna), and an unwavering source of pride and love for his children John (Amy), Don (Carla), Nikki, Rob (Trina), Mona, Joe (Jessyka), Christy, Ethan (Abi), Erica, Alex, Isaiah, and Blaire—as well as his many grandchildren, nieces, and nephews. He was preceded in death by his mother Delores “Mimi”, sister Darlene “Gidget”, nephew Joshua, and granddaughter Gabriella.
For over twenty years, Mike served his country as a proud member of the United States Marine Corps Reserve, retiring with the rank of Sergeant Major. He lived the Marine Corps motto, Semper Fidelis—Always Faithful. He carried his devotion to his country with respect, honor, and pride and anyone that knew Mike, knew that he loved his country and loved being a Marine.
The only thing Mike loved more than being a Marine, was the love for his family. Mike cherished his wife Kelly and the two of them shared a beautiful life together, filled with adventure, laughter, and love that only grew stronger over time. He spoke of all 12 of his children with such pride and admiration, cherishing every moment he spent with each and every child.
Mike’s legacy continues to live on through each of his children. A legacy that shows what it means to be faithful, to serve, and to love unconditionally. Mike’s presence will be deeply missed, but his love and guidance will continue to shine through all those that love him.
His family will honor his life on Friday, May 2 from 5:00 pm -7:00 pm at Cotner Funeral Home, 7369 East Main Street, Reynoldsburg, Ohio.
Interment, with Military Honors will be held at 11:00 am on Saturday, May 3, at Oakdale Cemetery, 1290 W 5th St, Marysville, Ohio.

It is Mike’s time to take up the guard and join the rank in Heaven.
