Ruby Elizabeth Gilbert, 94, wife of the late Arthur Gilbert, died on Sunday, April 27, 2025.

Born in Greenville, SC, she was the daughter of the late O.E. and Ruby Satterfield Brown.

Ruby devoted over 80 years of her life as a lifelong member of Hampton Park Baptist Church, where her faith and kindness shone brightly. She was known for her nurturing spirit, which extended beyond the walls of the church into her passions for gardening and reading. Her days were often filled with the warmth of her garden blooms and the pages of her favorite novels, but her greatest joy came from spending time with her beloved family.

Through her work as an administrative assistant for the VA-US Government, Ruby made a lasting impact on her colleagues and those she served. Her dedication and compassion left an indelible mark, reflecting her belief in the importance of helping others.

She is survived by her daughters, Vicki Bayne, Kathy Himlin (Richard), and Melissa Bishop (Bobby); a son, Scott Gilbert; grandchildren, Shon, Kris (Terrilyn), Courtney (Jason), Justin (Casey), Veronica, Amanda (Tanner), Brittany (Kevin), and Brandyn; 14 great grandchildren; nieces, Jan Mears Collins and Heidi Brown; and many other beloved nieces and nephews.

In addition to her beloved husband and parents, she was preceded in death by her sister, Virginia Mears; brother, O.E. "Buster" Brown; and son-in-law, Ronnie Bayne.

The funeral service will be Monday, May 5, 2025 at 1:30 p.m. at Hampton Park Baptist Church. Burial will be in Graceland Cemetery West.
