COMFORT- E. Jean (nee Tufts) of Port Colborne died peacefully at Portal Village Retirement Home on Sunday, April 27, 2025 at the age of 97 years. Loving wife of the late Stanley Comfort (2009), dear mother of Jackie Comfort, Cora Lee Comfort, Stanley “Bud” (Mary Ann) Comfort and Chris (Josie) Comfort, loving grandmother of Torie Comfort, Cara Comfort, Michael (Sim) Comfort and Spencer (Erika) Comfort. Jean was thrilled to hear that she would become a first time great- grandmother to a baby girl of Erika and Spencer later this fall. Also survived by several nieces and nephews. Besides her husband, she was predeceased by her parents Herman and Edith Tufts, and all of her siblings and their spouses. Jean was born in Port Colborne and was raised on the family farm there. She remained in the area all her life. She met her husband Stan and were married in 1949. They enjoyed over 60 wonderful years together until his passing. While married they enjoyed travel and watching and attending the occasional Blue Jays game. After Stan passed, Jean continued to travel with her dear friend Lorraine as well family to most of Canada, as well as Italy, Portugal, France, England and beyond. Travel, reading and gardening were her passions. But nothing thrilled her more than the joy she found in her grandchildren. This continued until the day she died. Our sincere thanks to the excellent staff and fellow residents at Portal Village for all the years of care, love, and friendship. She loved everyone there but had a special bond with Maria.

Cremation has taken place. The Comfort family will receive visitors at the DAVIDSON FUNERAL HOME, 135 Clarence Street, Port Colborne on Saturday, May 3, 2025 from 11:00 am until the time of the funeral service at 1:00 pm in the Davidson Chapel. Private family interment will take place at a later date. Memorial donations to the Kidney Foundation would be appreciated.
