Willie Nallen Macklin, Jr., born on August 18, 1942, in Richmond, Virginia, was the son of Willie N. Macklin, Sr. and Rebecca S. Dunaway. He passed away on April 27, 2025.
Willie "Junie" spent his childhood in Bracey and Richmond, Virginia. He attended Richmond Public Schools before enlisting in the United States Army in 1961, where he also completed his high school education that same year. On June 16, 1962, he married Edwina Powell Macklin, and they shared 55 years together until her passing. Following his six years of service in the Army, Willie embarked on a 20-year career as a Drywall Contractor and a Class A Builder. Notably, he was the first certified licensed African American Home Inspector, Lead and Mold Inspector in the State of Virginia, a profession he dedicated himself to for 40 years. His life was centered around his wife, their three children, six grandchildren, six great-grandchildren, and one great-great-grandchild.
His late brother, James R. Macklin, and his late son, Corey Hite, were dear to him and preceded him in death.
He leaves behind a loving legacy through his children: Willie N. Macklin IV (Audrey), Roxie Macklin (Gregory Barnes), and Daryl Macklin (Michelle). He is also survived by his six grandchildren: Rebecca Robinson, Whitney Day (Maurice), Shanay Rose, Gregory Alexander Barnes, Kayla Macklin, and Dustin Greenhow; his six great-grandchildren: Aaliyah, MaRiyah, Serenity, Jada, Brenda, and Kai; and one great-great-grandchild, Ryder.
Others to cherish his memory include four sisters, Jeanne Haskins (Charles), Rebecca Macklin (William), Janice Booker (Calvin P.), Brenda Pellot-Rosa (Jesse); one brother, Shelton Mayo, one sister-in-law, Carol Smith (Tommy); two brother-in-law Clifton Doughty (late Ovetta), Eugene Buck (late Faustina); a host of nieces and nephews and other loving relatives and friends.
Junie will also be fondly remembered by his special friends, Carrol Hughes, Poochie and Boe, Penny McMickens, Roosevelt Byrd, Jr., St. Claire Jordan, Jr., Michael Crawley, Sr., Reggie and Denise Burton.
A viewing will be held from 10 a.m. - 7 p.m. on Friday, May 2, 2025 at Wilson & Associates' Funeral Service - East Chapel, 5008 Nine Mile Rd., Richmond, VA, where funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. on Saturday, May 3, 2025.
Interment will take place on Wednesday, May 7, 2025 at the Quantico National Cemetery, Triangle, VA .
