David Alan DeBoard
1964-2025
“To live in the hearts of those we love is never to die.”
— Thomas Campbell
David Alan DeBoard, age 61, of Ashland, Kentucky, passed away peacefully on April 27, 2025, at Community Hospice.
David was born on a chilly day in winter on January 16, 1964. He was a blessing to Kay Smith DeBoard Coleman of Catlettsburg, KY and the late Edmal DeBoard.
David attended Boyd County High School, and built a life rooted in hard work, adventure, and deep love for family. He retired in 2014 after a long and dedicated career as a truck driver for A.R. Transport, where he made countless friendships and collected memories from the open road. David was a man of many passions. He found joy on the water’s edge fishing, riding motorcycles on sunny days down country roads, and shopping for treasures on Temu, the postmen knew him well, as they were always delivering packages. His playful spirit and love for life were matched only by his deep faith. David attended Catlettsburg Harvest Church of God, where his heart found both strength and fellowship. David will be remembered for his warmth, his adventurous spirit, and the fierce love he had for his family. His legacy lives on in the many lives he touched, and he will be deeply missed but never forgotten
David shared 35 wonderful years of marriage with his beloved wife, Tammy Moore DeBoard. Together they built a family rich in love and laughter. David was the proud father of Michael DeBoard and his wife Meagan of Portsmouth, Ohio; Christian DeBoard of Ashland, Kentucky; Shawn Mays and his wife Sheena of South Point, Ohio; and James McCoy and his wife Christy of Greenup, Kentucky. He was also a cherished Papaw to seven precious grandchildren: Dakota, Emma, Kaylee, Kylie, Daniel, Cole, and Ali.
David’s siblings meant the world to him as well. He is survived by his brothers George DeBoard and his wife Rhonda of Catlettsburg, Kentucky, and Mark DeBoard and his wife Alana of Russell, Kentucky, and by his sister Kristy Keaton and her husband Clancy of Ironton, Ohio. Also left to mourn David's passing is his most devoted companion, His dog Diesel.
In addition to his late father, David is enjoying a Heavenly Reunion with his brother, Ed DeBoard.
