Jose A. Contreras Obituary

Jose Alfredo Contreras, lovingly remembered as funny, lovable, and smart, passed away leaving behind a legacy of warmth, faith, and devotion to family. Born and raised in Camargo, Tamaulipas, Mexico, Alfredo lived a life centered on compassion, humor, and a deep commitment to God.

Alfredo's bright smile and great sense of humor endeared him to all who knew him. He was known for his unwavering faith as a devoted Catholic, always offering a listening ear and a shoulder to lean on. His greatest joy was spending time with his family—especially his grandchildren—and enjoying hobbies like fishing and playing lotería.

Throughout his career as a Roll-Off Driver, Alfredo was known for his loyalty and reliability. He earned 15 years of service recognition and was celebrated by his co-workers as a dependable colleague and role model. Even one more delivery was a joy when working alongside him.

Alfredo’s heart belonged to his beloved wife, Luisa, with whom he shared 44 beautiful years of marriage. Their journey began at a backyard birthday party, and together they built a life full of love and laughter. Alfredo was a proud father to Ofelia Reyes (Guillermo Reyes), Javier Contreras (Danielle Contreras), and Isabel Ramirez (Chris Ramirez), and a cherished grandfather to Mayra Reyes, Jose Reyes, Karina Reyes, Jessica Reyes, Cayla Contreras, Malia Ramirez, Jordan Contreras, Charlotte Ramirez, and Christopher Ramirez Jr. He was also blessed with a great-grandson, Ra'mir Reyes.

Alfredo had a special love for fishing trips to South Texas, family gatherings filled with fish fries and games of lotería, and simple pleasures like enjoying coffee, Coca-Cola, and his favorite treats—Gansitos, Drumsticks, and Snickers. His favorite color was turquoise/light blue, and he was especially fond of the song "Quiero Dormir Cansado" by Emmanuel, whom he greatly admired.

His playful phrases, like calling Luisa "corazón de melón" and reassuring others with "Todo va a estar bien, no te preocupes," will echo fondly in the memories of his family and friends.

Alfredo was reunited in eternal life with his father, Ramon Contreras. He leaves behind his mother, Carlota Contreras; his siblings Juan Contreras, Alicia Maria del Rosario, Martin Contreras, Silvia, Norma Contreras, Linda, Sonia, Rosa Maria, Alma, Jorge Luis Contreras, and Angelica.

The family would like to express their gratitude to all the extended family, friends, co-workers, and his current employer, BVR, for their love and support.

Alfredo's life was a testament to the power of faith, family, and kindness. His legacy will live on in the hearts of those he touched.
