It is with deepest sympathy that we announce the passing of Mr. Edward Kirkland, age 87, of Austell, Georgia, who entered into his eternal rest on April 27, 2025. An Interment will be held on Thursday, May 8, 2025 at 11:30 AM at Georgia National Cemetery 1080 Scott Hudgens Drive Canton, Georgia 30114.

Edward Kirkland was born in Atlanta, Georgia on July 16, 1937 to the late Tom Kirkland and Beatrice Dozier. After a courageous battle with pancreatic cancer, Edward transitioned on April 27, 2025.   He was a veteran of the Korean War, a real estate agent with Knox Realty, and a long-time employee with the Georgia Mental Health Institute (GMHI) and Lockheed Georgia.

Preceding him in death are his siblings: Hattie Bell Clark, Tom "Tommie" Kirkland Jr., Eddie Lee Kirkland, Adlene "Lena" Douthit, Elbert "Chunk" Kirkland, Mary "Sista" Wynn, and a niece who was raised like a sibling: Beatrice "Tiny" North, as well as a very close cousin Willie Bell Martin.

He is survived by his youngest brother: David Kirkland (Jacqueline), his children: Andre Kirkland, Andrea Suzanne Kirkland(Jermaine), Marion "Mimi" Mitchell and Kyle Kirkland (Tawanna), several grandchildren and great-grandchildren, many nieces and nephews, as well as other family and friends...all of whom he loved and admired very much.
