Stephen J Sikorski, 68, of Friendship, WI, graduated into eternity after a sudden illness at Gunderson Hospital in La Crosse, WI, on Sunday, April 27, 2025.
Steve was born March 13, 1957, the adopted son of the late Elaine Weir and John Sikorski of Stevens Point, WI. Steve was raised in Stevens Point and graduated from SPASH.
Following high school, he went to Nicolet College and also studied at Oral Roberts University. He married Sandy Cera, also of Stevens Point, in 1985, and thus they began their dream life in the mountains of Colorado, mostly in Silverthorne. While married, energetic and entrepreneurial Steve had many different jobs and side hustles in his life. He was on the road often for his various jobs, especially as sales manager for Kimpex USA. He and Sandy loved to travel, taking many trips abroad and long interstate motorcycle rides. Devastated by Sandy's death in 2009, Steve stayed in Colorado until he relocated to Friendship, WI, in 2012.
Steve was a man for all seasons: smart, friendly, energetic, creative, ambitious. He was a storyteller and he loved acting. While in college he performed with the Robin Hood Players that put on plays for children in elementary schools across Wisconsin. While in Colorado, he was often in productions of A Christmas Carol as the Ghost of Christmas Present. Because of his girth, his white beard, jovial personality and hearty laugh, Steve played a perfect Santa Claus at various venues across Wisconsin for many years up until Christmas 2024.
Steve had an active imagination and the gift of humor. He could make anyone laugh. He had the gift of gab and could talk all night if you let him. Steve had a tenderness for cats, and leaves behind his last two, Cody and Monkeyboy, who now are in a good home together. Steve loved to drive and loved adventure. He knew snowmobiles and motorcycles inside out and loved to buy and sell them as well as ride them. If you needed to buy or sell a snowmobile in Wisconsin, Steve was your man. He was a key figure in the snowmobile scene for a long time, helping to popularize the sport and spearhead special events. Steve was passionate about his family, friends, politics, travel, food (he won many chili cook-offs), movies, cats, and was a superb Jeopardy player. He always had something to say about how our government was run and used his voice to rally his fellow Americans to take a stand against evil and deception. He kept in touch with so many of his friends by regular long phone calls. May we all follow Steve's example of friendliness, loving life, seeking adventure, and caring about others and our country.
Although all who knew him will greatly miss Steve, we rejoice with him that he is now reunited with the love of his life, Sandy. See you on the other side, Steve!
Steve is survived by his beloved sister, Bonnie Bergstrom of Oregon; his daughter, Lisa, from his first wife; his brother-in-law, Dennis Cera; sisters-in-law, Rachel Cera, Annette Scott and Joan Cera Hulihan; and by aunts, uncles, nieces and nephews, many cousins and friends.
Steve was preceded in death by his father, John; his mother, Elaine; and his beloved wife, Sandy.
Many thanks to the staff at Gunderson Hospital who gave Steve such good care his last 10 days of life.
His body was interred by Shuda Funeral Home next to his wife at Guardian Angel Cemetery in Stevens Point. A Celebration of Life will be scheduled at a later date.
