CHARLES SMITH

Walhalla – Charles “Smiley” Meurice Smith, 67, loving husband of Karen Denise Goss, passed away on Saturday, April 26, 2025, at his residence, surrounded by his family.

Born on January 9, 1958, in Oconee County, South Carolina, Charles was the son of the late Homer Charlie and Pauline Davis Smith. He worked as a heating and air technician. In his free-time, Charles enjoyed traveling.

Charles is survived by his beloved wife of 32 years, Karen Denise Goss; children, Kevin Smith, Ashley Smith; step-children, Jason Goss, RJ Goss; brother, Mike Smith (Irene); sisters, Teresa Fuller, Nellie Holbrooks (Tommy); grandchildren, Cody Grant, Olivia Grant, Ethan Patterson, Kevin Hise; and 8 great-grandchildren.

In addition to his parents, Charles is preceded in death by his daughter, Tonya Hise; brothers, Milton Homer Smith, Morris Smith; sisters, Cathy Diane Payne and Joyce Virginia Donald.

A Graveside Service will be held at 2:30 pm, Thursday, May 1, 2025, at West View Memorial Cemetery. The family will receive family and friends from 1:00 pm to 2:00 pm, prior to the service at Sandifer Funeral Home.
