Lynette Joy Jones Obituary

Lynette Joy Jones (Lyn) passed away on Wednesday, April 23, 2025, after a courageous battle with ALS.

Lyn was born in Gosford, New South Wales, Australia, to William and Joyce Partridge. She grew up in the coastal fishing village of Patonga and completed her primary education at Ettalong, later graduating from Woy Woy High School.

She earned her nursing degree from Gosford Hospital and went on to complete an advanced degree in midwifery at Ryde Hospital in Sydney. During her time in obstetrics, she delivered 50 babies unassisted.

Lyn was a registered nurse in both Australia and the United States. Over the course of her career, she worked in obstetrics, operating rooms, intensive care, orthopedics, and emergency rooms. One of her most fulfilling roles was teaching emergency first aid and CPR to firefighters, paramedics, and police officers.

Inspired by her teaching experience, Lyn later became a preschool teacher in Jefferson County, Colorado, dedicating 13 years to early childhood education. She found joy in watching young children grow and thrive, and more than once heard from parents who credited much of their children’s early adulthood successes to those early years in Lyn’s classroom.

Lyn met her husband, Walt, in Sydney, Australia. They were married on November 8, 1970, in Lake Andes, South Dakota. They were blessed with three children: Anne (married to Matt), Terri (married to Chris), and Eric (married to Karol), and six grandchildren: Ben, Mikala, Natalie, Paige, Emily, and Wilson.

She is survived by her husband, children, grandchildren, her brothers John (married to Judith) and David (married to Sharon), sister Julie (married to Tony), and many nieces, nephews, and cousins.

Lyn enjoyed reading, especially history, traveling, and socializing with friends and family. In Silverthorne, Colorado she enjoyed meeting with her book club and telling stories, sometimes even about the books they had just read.

A celebration of life will be held on May 25th at 3:00 pm at the Inn at Hudson Gardens (6115 S. Santa Fe Drive, Littleton, Colorado). In lieu of flowers, please consider a gift in Lyn’s memory to Rocky Mountain ALS Foundation or Tunnel to Towers Foundation.
