Darrin D. Thomas

November 23, 1965 - April 23, 2025

Darrin Douglas Thomas was born in Orange, New Jersey on November 23, 1965 to Beatrice E. Thomas (deceased) and Rudolph S. Thomas. He was the Firstborn child of their union.

Darrin attended Cleveland St Elementary School, Orange Middle School and earned his high school diploma while attending NJTS. In addition, while living in Virginia, he took several classes focusing on agricultural studies.

Darrin accepted our Lord Jesus Christ as his personal savior at a young age. He thrived attending Bethel Baptist Church in Orange, NJ., singing in the Choir and as a Jr Usher.

He grew up in Orange on Carroll Street residing at the Washington Dodd Apartments with his Mom, Dad and brother Keyvan. Everyone knows Darrin was quite a precocious child sharing various adventures with his brother, cousins and trusted friends. He also enjoyed many summers of his youth at the Friendship House, as well as Ropes Playground in Orange, NJ.

He traveled to numerous places including Virginia, Georgia, Maryland, New York, Pennsylvania, Connecticut, West Virginia, the Bahamas and more. Although he lived in Virginia for several years, No matter where he went, Orange, NJ was always “home”.

He returned to Orange in 2017 where he reunited with his childhood friend and partner Nicole Barlow and her children.

As an adult, he worked in several fields, including various positions in Agriculture, Baking and Construction.

Even though his life at times was not without difficulty, his persevering spirit always shone through. He will be greatly missed by those who knew and loved him.

He leaves to cherish his memory, Son - Jaquan Sweeney, Grandchildren - Amaya, Jaquan and Harley Sweeney, Father - Rudolph S. Thomas, Brother - Keyvan S. Thomas, Sister - Sharlynda Purefoy, Brothers - Lamont Wigfall, Quandell Thomas, Nieces - Darrielle Weeks, Precious Maynard (Tay), Azuree Purefoy, Nephews - Naghie Purefoy, Kyle Jackson Jr, Life partner - Nicole Barlow, Godmother - Mary Johnson, Godson - Kayden Singletary as well as a host of relatives, friends and associates.
