Daniel Lee "Danny" Mayse, age 72, of Morehead, passed away peacefully at home on Saturday, April 26, 2025, after an extended illness.
Born in Elliott County on June 30, 1952, he was the son of the late Chesley and Betty Howard Mayse.
Danny is survived by his loving wife of 33 years, Sherry Ross Mayse; his two beloved children, Zachary Daniel Mayse (Aqua) of Mount Sterling and Chelsea Claudett Mayse of Morehead; and two cherished grandchildren, Bria Mayse and Oliver Mayse. He also leaves behind two brothers, John Mayse (Myra) of Morehead and Dennis Mayse of Lexington; a nephew he loved like a son, Doug Mayse of Morehead; several additional nieces and nephews he adored; and his faithful dog and companion, Yuri Mayse.
Danny enjoyed the outdoors — fishing, hunting, working in the yard, and taking walks with his granddaughter Bria. He loved late-night movies, often watching them from his rocking chair with popcorn and snacks. He also liked smoking cigars and collecting coins and knives.
As a teenager, Danny worked various small jobs before spending 20 years at AO Smith. He later found his true calling as a bus driver with the Rowan County School System, where he served with dedication for 27 years until retirement.
