Billie Rae Barger Walton, 81, of Salisbury, passed away Sunday, April 27, 2025.

She was born October 6, 1943, in Rowan County, to the late Ray Willard Barger and Evelyn Brown Barger. Mrs. Walton was a 1961 graduate of North Rowan High School and attended Salisbury Business College, graduating in 1963. She retired from Bridges Law Firm in Salisbury and was also employed with Food Lion Corporate Office in the Loss Prevention Department.

Mrs. Walton was married to the late Oscar Lee "Buddy" Walton, Jr., on October 6, 1963, at Calvary Lutheran Church in Spencer. They celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary in October 2013, before his death on December 18, 2013.

In addition to her parents and husband, she is preceded in death by her brother, David Wesley Barger.

Mrs. Walton is survived by her children, Mary Walton Sprinkle (Cameron) of Salisbury and Alan Scott Walton (Kim) of Woodleaf; sister, Mary Barger Foster (Eddie) of Salisbury; grandchildren, Brandon Walton (Amber White) of Cleveland, Mackenzie Sprinkle of Salisbury, and Taylor Walton of Woodleaf; cousin, Clyde Arlie Brown (Brenda); childhood and lifelong friend, Anne Scruggs Link; friend, Linda Richtsmeier; nine nieces and nephews; 14 great nieces and nephews; and her beloved dog, Keeper.

The family will greet friends and relatives from 3:00 PM until 3:45 PM on Wednesday, April 30, at Powles Staton Funeral Home in Rockwell.

The funeral service will follow at 4:00 PM on Wednesday in the funeral home chapel, with the Rev. Dr. Dale Robertson officiating.

Burial will follow at Oakdale Baptist Church Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, the family asks that memorials may be made to Trellis Hospice and Supportive Care, 301 S. Main Street-Unit 105, Salisbury, NC 28144.

The family of Mrs. Walton wishes to extend special thank you's to Trina Wertz, Marcus Morris, Katie Ruby, Brittany Sobb, Joy Manley, Tui Austin, Cynthia Simon, Paula Henry, Kassie Shaver, Georgie Moore, and Varney Kiadii for going over and above to care for our mom. We would also like to thank Trellis Hospice and Supportive Care and Compass Healthcare and Rehabilitation Center for the care and compassion of our mom for the past three years.
