Bernard “Bernie” G. Carpenter 70 passed away April 26, 2025 peacefully surrounded by family. He was born October 25, 1954 in Conneaut to Allen and Arlene (Gee) Carpenter in Conneaut, OH.

Bernie was a member of the Conneaut Wesleyan Methodist church and a graduate of Conneaut High School. He worked for thirty-five years at ESAB (formally known as Linde Wire) in various positions, beginning as a wire cleaner, maintenance and in shipping when he retired.

He had a huge love for riding Harley Davidsons especially his 1964 Panhead and in later years his trike. An avid deer hunter for years and always saved his vacation time to take from Thanksgiving to New years so he could hunt during prime deer season and was proud to teach his wife Jennifer how to clean and can venison. He enjoyed tinkering with bikes and tractors and even became a gunsmith after retirement, but of all he loved to help others and spend time with his family.

Bernie is survived by his wife Jennifer (Sutch) whom he married on Aug. 28, 2004; children Scott Carpenter of Conneaut, Angela (Trevor) Harakal of Rock Creek, Tawnya (Craig) Smith of Conneaut, Tim (Jessica) Stutzman Sr. of Pahrump, Nevada, Dan (Jodi Slayton) Carpenter of Conneaut and Jessica (Dan) Pocci of Roaming Shores; grandchildren Sydney, Chase, Aubrey, Austin, Brock, Brynn, Ricki, Tim Jr., Nicholas, Michael and Emma; two great grandchildren Briella and Harleigh; a sister Peggy (Ray) Peak of King William, Virginia; brother Don (Shirley) Carpenter of Cherry Tree, Pennsylvania; and many nieces, nephews and more distant relatives.

He was preceded in death by his parents; His first wife Barbara (Brockett) Carpenter and a sister Mary Lou Gibson Rider (Boyd).

Per Bernie’s request private family viewing will take place and burial will be at the convenience of his family in East Conneaut Cemetery with his first wife and family.

The Marcy Funeral Home and Cremation Center 208 Liberty St., Conneaut, OH has been entrusted with his arrangements.
