Irene Lazarsky, age 89, passed away peacefully on Saturday, April 26, 2025 at the Lehigh Valley Hospital, Hazleton.
She was born in Tresckow, the daughter of the late George and Gustina (Gonda) Yurkanin.
Irene was an incredibly strong and intelligent woman. Over the years, she held many roles working in the food industry and taking care of seniors; touching countless lives with her hard work and kindness. She had a passion for cooking and baking and created beautiful, delicious dishes for her family. She loved talking on the phone with her sisters and, as an occasional treat, going to the casino.
Irene’s most impressive quality was the amount of effort and heart that she put into everything she did, whether it was taking care of her loved ones, elderly people, or her home. The role she took most seriously was being a grandmother. “Mommom”, as she was known to her family, said her greatest joy in life was her four grandchildren. She was a significant, loving presence in every stage of their lives. All of her family will sincerely miss her humor, good will and affection.
Preceding her in death, in addition to her parents, were her 13 siblings: Mary, John, George, Helen, Joseph, Frank, Andrew, Michael, Dorothy, Patrick, August, Catherine, and Anna Mae.
Surviving are her children, Richard Lazarsky of Sugarloaf and Kristin Lazarsky Gammer of Drums, her grandchildren Richard, Kevin, Brinn and CJ, all of Drums and her brother Thomas Yurkanin of Levittown. She is also survived by her adoring dog, Blossom.
All services will be private and at the convenience of the family.
