Carmen Palomin, 74, passed away peacefully on April 26, 2025, in Edinburg, Texas surrounded by family. Born on August 22, 1950, in San Manuel, Texas, Carmen’s gentle spirit and unwavering kindness profoundly impacted all who knew her. Her life was a testament to the power of dedication, both to her family and to the countless students she nurtured throughout her career.

Carmen’s early years were spent in the warm embrace of her family in San Manuel. She was the cherished daughter of Jesus and Santos Gutierrez, who, along with her brother Jesus Gutierrez Jr. and sister Hortencia Reyes, preceded her in death. Her formative yers were filled with laughter, learning, and the development of the values she would carry with her throughout her life.

Her pursuit of education led her to Pan American University, where she earned a Bachelor’s degree that would become the foundation of her 32-year tenure as a beloved teacher in the McAllen Independent School District. Carmen’s passion for education was evident in her unwavering commitment to her students. She was not only their teacher but also their advocate, mentor, and friend.

Carmen’s heart was truly fulfilled when she met her loving husband, Jose Palomin. Together, they built a life rich in love and shared interests, including fishing, exercise, camping, and cherishing moments with their family. Her role as a mother to her sons, Omar (Diane) Palomin and Jose (Melissa) Palomin, was one of her greatest joys. She instilled in them the values of kindness and generosity that she epitomized. 

The legacy of Carmen’s warmth and nurturing spirit lives on through her grandchildren, Cameron, Courtney, Caleb, Aaron, and Aiden Palomin. She was a constant presence in their lives, offering guidance, support, and endless affection. Each of them carries a piece of her loving heart within them, a treasure that will continue to shine brightly in their lives.

Those who knew Carmen will remember her as a gentle soul whose love knew no bounds. She approached life with a quiet strength and a generous heart, always placing the needs of others before her own. Her presence was a comfort, her smile a reassurance and her advice a guiding light.

As we bid farewell to Carmen Palomin, we celebrate a life beautifully lived anda legacy that will continue to inspire. She will be deeply missed by her devoted husband, her loving children and grandchildren, and the countless lives she touched. Carmen’s memory will be cherished and honored by all who were blessed to know her.

In her passing, Carmen’s warmth and leaves behind a world that is undoubtedly better for her having been in it. Her spirit will continue to guide us, and her love will forever be the cornerstone of the family she so adored. We take solace in knowing that her kindness and compassion will ripple through generations, a testament to a life dedicated to the service of others. Carmen Palomin, a true embodiment of love and selflessness, will remain in our hearts forever. 

Visitation will be held from 4:00 pm to 9:00 pm Thursday, May 1, 2025 at Rivera Funeral Home of McAllen with the Holy Rosary being recited at 7:00 pm. Funeral service will be held at 9:30 am Friday, May 2, 2025 at Our Lady of Perpetual Help Catholic Church in McAllen. Interment will follow at 11:00 am at Rio Grande Valley State Veterans Cemetery in Mission. Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to the care of Rivera Funeral Home of McAllen.
