William Francis Kettler, age 89, was called home to Jesus on Wednesday, April 23, 2025. Bill was born at home in Chesaning Twp. to Roy and Agnes Kettler, on June 12, 1935. He was re-born into God’s family through baptism on June 30, 1935 and confirmed his faith on March 25, 1956. He graduated from Chesaning High School in 1953. Bill married his high-school sweetheart, Edith Ann Spike on September 24, 1955. Married 69 years, they were blessed with 5 children to whom they passed on the love of their Savior, 14 grandchildren and 28 great-grandchildren (with two more on the way.) Bill grew up on a farm where he learned the value of hard work, and bought his own farm near Chapin, MI in 1960. He also worked as an electrician for several different companies over the years, finally retiring from GM. He was also an active member holding several leadership positions over the years at Christ Ev. Lutheran Church. Bill and Edith enjoyed camping, fishing, traveling and visiting friends & family across the 50 states and in other countries, too.
Left to cherish Bill's memory are his children, Dale (Nancy) Kettler, Ann Marie (Dave) Turnwald, Rita Lynn (Tom) Ogg, Mary (Ron) Shaffer, David (Michelle) Kettler; 14 grandchildren; and 28 great- grandchildren; as well as many other loving family and friends. Standing with Jesus to greet him at heaven’s gates were his beloved Edith and many other family members along with all the saints who’ve gone before him.
A service of Christian comfort and victory will take place at Christ Evangelical Lutheran Church on Saturday, May 3 at 11:00am. The family will receive friends at McGeehan Funeral Homes Martin Chapel in Chesaning on Friday, May 2, from 2-7pm, and May 3, 10-11am at the church prior to the service. Bill’s earthly remains will be interred at Wildwood Cemetery to await Jesus’ return and the resurrection of the dead.
