Harold Martin Obituary

Harold “Sam” Martin, 84, of the Jersey Swamp Road, West Chazy, died Sunday, April 27, 2025 at his home, under the loving care of his family and Hospice of the North Country.

He was born in Plattsburgh, July 11, 1940, the son of Harold Smith and Catherine (Collins) Martin.

Sam enjoyed painting for Theodore Stay for years and also co-owned and operated Sam and Jen's Grocery Store in Treadwells Mills.

He loved working at the store, telling jokes with friends and family, and always tinkering with new gadgets in the garage. He also loved summer fishing on the boat and winter ice fishing with his buddies.

He loved his family dearly, and those of us left behind will miss him terribly.

His family offers a sincere "thank you" to Hospice of the North Country and HCR Home Care.

At his request there will be no public services. Burial will be held at a later date in St. Augustine's Cemetery.

Arrangements are in the care of the Hamilton Funeral Home, 294 Mannix Road, Peru, 518-643-9055.
