MAPLETON and PRESQUE ISLE: Catherine S. Crary 95, passed away peacefully April 23, 2025 at The Aroostook House of Comfort in Presque Isle. She was born July 3, 1929 in Ottawa, Canada, the daughter of Martin and Dora (Ford) McLaughlin. Catherine was a devoted member of the Grant Memorial United Methodist Church and served on the funeral reception committee. Her many interests before her eyes and ears started to fail her were, antiques and sales, garage sales, with her friend Sue Kaiser, quilting, serving on committees at her church and keeping up with correspondence by letters and phone calls with friends and family afar. Catherine was an avid photographer and operated her 35 mm camera right up til her early 90’s, amassing thousands of photos of all her friends and families from the 50’s and thru til just recently. In one of the last years, she enjoyed a brief stay downstate living with her daughter seeing the coast of Maine and enjoying daily meals at the famous Moody’s Diner. Other places she loved going to were Governor’s restaurant and Panera Bread. She loved Vernors ginger ale, licorice jelly beans, White Shoulders perfume and her favorite flower were daisies.

She is survived by her two children Kevin Crary, and Donna Crary of Presque Isle, two nieces Judith Albers and “Cookie” Donath, several great nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her husband Royce Crary in 1989 and her sister-in-law Rosemary Johnson. There will be no services. Interment will be at Southside Cemetery in Mapleton at a later date.
