Peter Jan Page, age 93, of Chicago IL passed away peacefully on Wednesday, April 23, 2025 in the care of Unity Hospice at Montgomery Place Retirement Community.

Peter was born and grew up in Grand Forks, ND. She graduated with a BS degree in Nursing from Carleton College in Minnesota then obtained her Masters-Nurse Practitioner degree from the University of Chicago. As a pioneer in nursing during the 50’s-60’s, she worked in Chicago at the Woodlawn Child Health Center Clinic, Chicago Children’s Hospital and at the University of Chicago Lab School.

Peter had a deep love for anthropology. She volunteered at the Chicago Field Museum and studied cave art in Spain for 4 years. She was an avid bird watcher, a member of the Chicago Theater for the Arts and the Audubon Society. She loved animals, especially her kitty “Himself” who provided endless hours of snuggles and unconditional love.

Peter loved classical music, birding, chocolate, and supporting family and friends with compassion and respect, giving generously to those in need within her community.

She is survived and cherished by nephew Stephen Dyke Page (Marty), niece Amy Page Hayden (Jeff), nephew David John Page and great nieces: Leela Peck Marshburn (Jeff) Mallory Page Iverson (Josh), Jennifer Hayden McCaffrey (Pete), Laura Taylor Holbrook (Tyler), BethAnn Hayden and great nephews: Micheal Page, Dillon Taylor, Joseph Hayden, and great-great nieces and nephews: Elijah, Ezra, Mac, Nell and Mary as well her many dear friends and neighbors.

The Page family will be hosting a Celebration of Life for Peter Page on June 27th at the Hyde Park Art Center, 5020 S. Cornell Ave. Chicago, IL 60615. All are invited to attend anytime between 1:00pm-3:00pm for a time of visitation with family and friends. In lieu of flowers, a memorial donation can be made in Peter's name to The University of Chicago Laboratory Schools. Arrangements entrusted to Smith-Corcoran Funeral Home. For info, 847-359-8020.
