Richard J. Bates, 70, passed away on Wednesday, April 23, 2025, at his home.
Born on April 16, 1955, in Auburn, NY, he was the son of Doris (Chamberlin) Mills and the late Robert Bates.
Richard attended South Glens Falls High School. He worked for General Electric, Quad Graphics and working construction alongside his brother, Don.
He enjoyed watching NASCAR, driving in his Jeeps when he was younger, going fishing, woodworking, mowing his lawn and the comfort of his home. Richard will always be remembered for his kindness and helpful hand. He always looked out for his loved ones and always appreciated the ones that looked out for him as well.
In addition to his father, Richard was predeceased by his brother, Bruce Bates.
Left to cherish his memory include his mother, Doris Mills; his daughter, Lisa Bates; his siblings, Donald (Rebecca) Bates, Carole (Jack) Harvey and Janet (Darryl) Bates; his sister-in-law, Sue Bates; his stepbrother, Gibby Mills Jr. (Audrey); his friend, Danny DePaulo; and several nieces, nephews and cousins.
A Celebration of Life will be celebrated from 2-4 Sunday, May 4th at Backstreet BBQ, 35 John Street, Hudson Falls.
Service will be private and at the convenience of the family.
Memorial donations in Richard’s memory can be made to the Village Baptist Church, 131 Broadway, Fort Edward, NY 12828, American Legion Hudson Falls Post 574, 72 Pearl Street, Hudson Falls, NY 12839.
