Gilbert “Gil” Poore of Townsend, Delaware passed away peacefully on Saturday April 26th, at the age of 85.

Gil was born on August 13, 1939, to his late parents Gilbert Poore and Rose A. Dill.

Gil was a retiree of Johnson Controls and a lifetime member of the Townsend Fire Company, where he was a dedicated volunteer. He truly loved the outdoors. He was a hunter and trapper in his early years and was a dedicated bass fisherman his entire life. His happy place was in his boat or along the bank of one of his favorite fishing holes. If the weather was nice, you could find him casting a line every day of the week.

In addition to his parents, Gil was preceded in death by his brother William “Billy” H. Poore and his son Gilbert “Gibby” Poore III.

Gil leaves behind his loving wife of 64 years, Elsie M. Poore, his daughter Christine M. Schmitt (Richard), daughter-in-law Julie Poore, grandchildren Chelsiee Lambert (Andrew), Ross Poore, Erin Rossi (Drew), two great grandchildren, Caleb and Amelia, brother James "Bucky" Dill, sisters Rose Bowers, Francis Armstrong, Patsy Coleman, Ann Simmons, and Darlene Price.

A visitation will be held from 5 - 6 pm on Thursday, May 8th. This will be followed by a memorial service at 6 pm. Both events will be held at Daniels & Hutchison Funeral Home, 212 N. Broad St., Middletown, DE.
