It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Robert, “Bob” Michel, 75, of Taylorville on April 26, 2025 at Taylorville Memorial Hospital. 

Bob was born on October 4, 1949, to Leroy and Virginia Michel. He graduated from Kincaid High School and Joliet College. He married the love of his life, Sharon Long on June 22, 1969, and together they built a life rooted in love, hard work, and family. 

A lifelong farmer and natural entrepreneur, Bob was known for his tireless work ethic, generous heart and someone who never met a stranger. He lived by the simple but powerful principle: give more than you take.

Bob was a life-long farmer beginning his farming career with his father, Leroy, and retired with his son, Chad. He was the owner of Kincaid Kars where his mom, Virginia was his #1 employee until her retirement. He and his wife Sharon invested in multiple rental properties in the Kincaid area.

Bob was a devoted husband, proud father to Bobbi (Mike) Champley, Chad (Tanya) Michel, and a beloved grandfather to Ryan (Katie) Womack, Payton (Brett) Langen, Taylor and Jack Michel all of Taylorville, and great grandfather to Ella and Tate Womack.  He leaves behind his sister, Charlotte (Mike) Zanotti, Tovey, Brother-in-law, John “Mitch” (Linda) Long, St. Pete Beach, Florida along with nieces and nephews. His endless joke telling, love of a good time and steady presence will be deeply missed. 

Bob was preceded in death by his parents, mother-in-law, Jean Pagliai, sister-in-law, Louella (Lu & Darrel) Leesman.

Visitation will be held on Tuesday, April 29, 2025, from 5pm-8pm, Funeral services Wednesday, April 30, 2025 at 11 am, at Masterson Funeral Home, Kincaid. Please join the family immediately following the funeral at the American Legion, Kincaid. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations to Trinity Lutheran Church, Taylorville, IL, and St. Jude’s Children’s Hospital.
