Ann Carlisle Obituary

Ann P. (O’Brien) Carlisle passed away peacefully on April 23, 2025, to be with our Lord. She was born February 19, 1935, the youngest of seven children, to Thomas and Mary O’Brien of Arlington, MA. Ann and her husband of nearly 53 years, Dale, began their family in Chelmsford, MA and eventually settled in Centerville, MA on Cape Cod.

Not long after arriving on the Cape, Ann found her true calling when she became the Administrative Assistant for the Cotuit/Marstons Mills Elementary School. She welcomed everyone for many years at the front desk and just adored the smiling young faces that greeted her daily. The many friends that she made while there became like a second family for her. She also volunteered at Our Lady of Victory Parish as a Eucharistic Minister as well as a wedding planner for many young couples in the community.

Ann is predeceased by her beloved husband and best friend, Dale, her parents, Thomas O’Brien of County Cork, Ireland and Mary (Murphy) of Cambridge, her brothers Thomas (Mary), James (Mary), Robert (Rose), Edward (Eileen), her sisters Irene Brown (David) and Kathleen Bradley (Richard) and son-in-law Daniel Lahiff.

She is survived by her daughters, Sharon and Cathy of Centerville, MA, Mary Ellen Lahiff of Hingham, MA and her sons, Michael (Ellen) of Medway, MA and Thomas of Braintree, MA. Ann is also survived by her grandchildren, Eamonn (Christina), Ben, Caitlyn and Sean Carlisle, Meaghann, Brendan, and Matthew Lahiff, and great grandchildren, Kennedy and Rory Carlisle, as well as many nieces and nephews and great nieces and nephews.

Ann cherished family events, holiday traditions, and any excuse for family and friends to celebrate together. She loved spending time on the many beaches in the area and cherished having her sisters living nearby to explore all that Cape Cod had to offer.

May all of the memories of Ann by family & friends be cherished and kept close to our hearts forevermore.

May the road rise to meet you

May the wind be always at your back

May the sun shine warm upon your face

The rains fall soft upon your fields

And until we meet again

May God hold you in the hollow of his hand
