Barbara Wizwer, 81, of Greenfield MA passed away peacefully on April 26, 2025 surrounded by loved ones.

Born February 3, 1944 in Springfield MA, she was a cherished daughter of the late Esther and Harold Rosenbloom and sister Carol. She was a proud native of Western MA. She attended Boston University on full scholarship, where she cultivated her passion for learning.

On November 27, 1966, she married the love of her life, Marvin Wizwer, with whom she shared a devoted and happy marriage until his passing in March 2022.

She dedicated a significant portion of her career to the Greenfield School System. Following her retirement, she became an active volunteer at Baystate Franklin Hospital.  Her commitment to education and her local community was evident in her work.

A naturally social person, she found great joy in being an active participant in her children’s lives - always present at games, school events and community gatherings. In her later years, she cherished her role as a grandmother above all, finding endless joy in the company of her grandchildren.

She will be remembered for her sharp wit and her remarkable ability to connect with new people wherever she went.

She is survived by her beloved children Sheri Allan and her husband Jason, of Windsor, CT, and Heidi Gidius and her husband Thomas of Mystic, CT, as well as her cherished grandchildren, Parker and Zachary. She is also survived by her dear friends Amanda and Lisa whose love and support meant the world to her, along with many other friends and relatives who were a special part of her life.

Services will be held on Thursday May 1st at 10am at the Greenfield Jewish Cemetery, Greenfield MA. In lieu of flowers, donations in her memory may be made to the American Heart Association (www.heart.org), The National Kidney Foundation(donations@kidney.org) and the American Diabetes Association(https://www.diabetes.org)
