Funeral services for Patricia S. "Pat" Werkmeister, age 81, of Madison, Nebraska will be 11:00 a.m. Friday, May 2, 2025, at Trinity United Methodist Church in Madison. Reverend Caitlin Bentzinger will officiate, with burial in Crown Hill Cemetery in Madison.

Visitation will be Friday from 9:30 to 11:00 a.m. at the church.

Luncheon and celebration of Pat’s life will follow at the Madison County Fairgrounds in the Commercial Building. All are welcome to join.

Resseguie Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Pat died Saturday, April 26, 2025, at Heritage of Bel Air in Norfolk.

Patricia Sue Werkmeister, daughter of Charles “Kenny” and Jessie (Young) Stevens, was born July 11, 1943, in Norfolk, Nebraska. She was raised and attended school in Madison, graduating from high school in 1959. She went on to college at UNL, where she graduated with her Bachelor of Social Work degree.

Pat pursued her career in social work in Denver, CO, where she lived for a few years before moving to Sacramento, CA. In 1974, soon after returning to Madison, Pat married Gerry Werkmeister in 1974. Upon her return to Madison, she primarily worked as a homemaker to devote her attention to her daughter Briana and later assisted in raising her grandchildren, Joyce and Jesse.

Pat worked in dispatch at the county sheriff’s office for 15 years before retiring.

She enjoyed gardening, achieving the rank of Master Gardener, and belonged to the MRS Club, PEO, and was active with the Madison Arts Center. She enjoyed reading mystery novels and solving crosswords. All who knew Pat appreciated her sharp wit and sense of humor. She loved family time and could often be found in the company of her best friend, Lois.

Pat is survived by her husband, Gerry; daughter, Briana (Virgil) Bruning; grandchildren, Joyce (Marcus) Pojar and Jesse (Kayla) Claytor; and great- grandchildren, Landon and Piper Claytor.

She was preceded in death by her parents; and brother, Kenneth Jo Stevens and his wife Sherry.
