Bruce J Dericks Obituary

Bruce J Dericks, 83, of Pompton Plains, passed away on April 26, 2025.

Born in Paterson, Bruce spent most of his life in Pompton Plains, where he raised his four sons. He lived in Wayne briefly before moving to his country property in Honesdale, PA. He returned to Pompton Plains, where he has lived at Cedar Crest Village.

Bruce had a deep appreciation for nature and spent much of his life in the woods and fields he loved—hunting, cutting wood, driving his tractor and enjoying the quiet satisfaction of the outdoors. He, along with his brothers, proudly owned and operated family-run Dericks Sheet Metal in Totowa, for many years. His strong work ethic, craftsmanship and leadership left a lasting impression on his sons, who continue his legacy and run the business today.

Bruce was predeceased by his first wife, Gail, 1976. In 1980, he married Marion Disser and the couple started a new chapter filled with love and devotion.

Bruce is survived by his wife of 45 years, Marion "Mickey" Dericks; his sons, Keith Dericks and his wife Jennifer, Kevin Dericks and his wife Kathy, Kurt Dericks and his wife Rebecca, Kristopher Dericks and his wife Amy, Gregory Snowden; his daughter, Kimberly Maguire and her husband Vincent; his brothers, Richard and his wife Curly, Peter and his wife Mary, Gerard and his wife Sue, and Paul and his wife Lynn; 13 grandchildren and 1 great grandson.

Visiting hours will be held from 12 to 4 pm Sunday, May 4 at Scanlan's, Pompton Plains. A funeral Mass will be held 10 am Monday at Our Lady of Good Counsel Church, Pompton Plains. Interment will follow at Holy Rood Cemetery, Morristown.

In lieu of flowers, donations in Bruce's memory to the American Cancer Society would be greatly appreciated by his family.
